Fun with Fimo

Thanks to Jodie, I've recently gotten into making things with Fimo Modelling Clay. Tried my hand at making two things from Cardcaptor Sakura; The Star Key and Sakura's hair clip from Movie One:

The hair clip isn't exact, but it's close enough. I've actually worn it a few times.
As for the key...yeah, it's not great, but it was my first time using Fimo. Maybe I'll try again once I buy some more paint.

I came home from work on Saturday to find Mum with this on her lap:

Her name is Bonnie and she is a cute, wastefully happy one year old Miniature Fox Terrier my parents adopted from a shelter in Glen Waverley.
Can't say I was expecting that, I mean there had been talk of us getting a new dog, but not that soon. I'm still getting over Bessy's death, so it's a little early for me.

Lately I have been thinking about starting a video blog, either on a new youtube account or on facebook. Question is, what do people want to see in a video blog? Is it worth it or is livejournal enough?
Really, I just want to have more fun with video editing. I'm not all that comfortable in front of the camera, just behind it, so I'm not sure I even want to do this yet!

Lastly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JODIE AND KATIE!!

Considering it was your first try at it, you did a very good job on both the hair clip and the star key! The clip does look like you put more work into it though, but keep at it~ They both look well made.

Such a cute puppy! Still, my condolences about Bonnie. It's hard to lose a pet...but don't look at her as a replacement, but more like another addition to the family.

I've considered doing a video blog as well, since I have a webcam...but I'm far too camera shy to do it x_x I'm with you on being behind the camera, but if you really want to do it, go for it. As for doing it on youtube, keep it relatively private, and if possible, only allow your friends to see it. There are a lot of freaks on the web...Facebook might be a better alternative, since you have more control over who sees what. Ultimately, it's up to you if you want to do it.

Yeah, that's my biggest concern with youtube. Youtube does have a system where you can videos "Friends Only" but it's very difficult to navigate. Facebook has much better security so it might be better to go there first. Thanks for the comments on my Fimo work! I guess I did put more work into the hair clip since it was something that I actually wanted to use where as the key was just for kicks!

Yeah, I've tried to use the friends only feature, and it's confusing as hell x_x Also, it only allows up to 25 people to view the video.

Agreed on facebook. That seems to be safer since only your friends can see your account if you want it that way. Hell, you can even block some of your friends from seeing the video if need be.

No problem ^_^ And that makes sense. It is a pretty clip <3 Makes me want to watch the movie now. I haven't watched that in a while. I'm possibly considering rewatching CCS ^_^ I love marathons and my last one was during the semester break where I had so much tooth pain I couldn't even enjoy it x_x

The Sakura clip look awesome. So very awesome. The key looks fine to me.

Bonnie's really cute but it sucks that it's when you're still missing Bessy.

Maybe, but I'm happy as it is. Ha, my attempt at napping didn't go so well, unless internet counts as napping O.o

Energy drinks, here I come!

Oh Bonnie gets along with Muggsy just fine. As for the cats and the rabbits, well, let's just say that she views them more as toys than fellow pets at the moment!

Bonnie looks like my dog, Foxy!! *hugs* I agree with Moezychan...she really is just a new addition to the family. =] I'd say go for the video blog! I'll watch it! ^__^ My friend Heidi has one and I think it's great! I've had fun using my camera to capture different moments and I will continue to do so. And September is FESTIVAL month in Japan!! ^___^

Oh, and your Fimo clay is really great! Seriously! AND I love sakura blossoms. =] The star key is totally cute too!

Yeah, I think I've at least decided to try and make a video blog. The idea keeps coming back to me so rather than ignore it, I figure I'll give it a shot. I don't know that I'll be posting anything online anytime soon though; I might screw up in front of the camera because, well, that's kind of what I do anyway in front of the camera!

YAY FESTIVAL TIMEZ!!! I'd love to see some film of Japanese festivals!

Wow, that hair clip and the key look so amazing!! Especially the hair clip! I've always wanted to make something like that... it was a pendant from a game. But I had no idea what material to use. I forgot what clay was recommended to me. But I couldn't get myself to do it as I was caught up with other things. So for you to have such dedication to make this is truly amazing! ^^

I'm sorry about your dog, Bessy. I know what it's like to lose a beloved pet, especially when they mean so much. But I'm sure Bonnie would never be a replacement. Like

moezychan said, she's a new member of the family. ^^

Oh gosh, I thought of making a video post. But so far I'm pretty much unsuccessful. So I'm gonna stick to voice posts when I have the chance. But if you want to make a video post and would only like to stick to just LJ (without the harassment of YouTube-ers) maybe try Photobucket? I haven't tried using that way though. But it's just a suggestion.

What was I going to say? ...oh right -i think the key is pretty ^_^ Fimo is harder (texture/weight) than Sculpey right? Did you get white and paint it or use colors of Fimo? I always wanted to try that... does it crack like Sculpey?

To be honest, I'm not sure. I've never used sculpey before. Yeah, I got the white fimo and painted it since it worked out cheaper for me that way, but unfortunately my painting isn't great.

It doesn't crack at all surprisingly, well, not for me anyway!

That hair clip is gorgeous! Too bad I'm not cosplaying from the second season or I'd totally have to buy that Star Key from you. ^_^ I mean, it's really good for a first try!

Thank you!!! Actually, I'm thinking about using the Star Key for my own cosplay since I'm planning to make Sakura's winter school uniform. I already have the skirt and material for the top. I just have to find a chain for the key!

I would totally wear that star clip too! That actually was one of my favorite parts from the first movie. And your star key is better than anything I would ever do. Lol.
